Hearing Loss
I have completed masters modules and specialist courses about working with people with hearing loss. I have also worked as a specialist in Hearing Impairment for the NHS which has included working in a Cochlear Implant team. I have also independantly offered specialist supervision and consultation services to other speech and language therapists working with clients with hearing loss. I enjoy using British Sign Language to communicate with my clients and their families and have qualified to intermediate level (Signature Level 2). I can use a range of communication modes (speech, sign, total communication, written word) to enable children and young people with hearing loss to achieve their highest potential.
Adolescents
Research shows that the adolescence is a critical period for development and a prime opportunity to learn and grow. Communication skills continue to develop throughout adolescence and into early adulthood. However, this is often a missed opportunity as speech and language therapy services targeted at older children are often limited. I am keen to offer services to bridge this gap. I have always been passionate about enabling young people to reach their full potential and overcome their communication difficulties. I started my career working with adolescents with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and have continued to dedicate myself to working with vulnerable young people.
